Overview
Associate Traffic Engineer
A leading smart mobility infrastructure management firm is immediately seeking a highly motivated Associate Traffic Engineer to join their team in Austin, TX!
In this role, the Associate Traffic Engineer will be responsible for:
- Going into the field and inventory equipment in the traffic signal cabinet
- Performing travel time runs/collecting and interpreting travel time data
- Developing the existing conditions model in Synchro
- Developing basic controller interval timings
- Developing coordinated timing plans
- Implementing new traffic signal timing plans
- Adjusting signal timing the at field based on field traffic conditions
- Conducting traffic engineering study, traffic impact analysis, traffic operation study and safety study
- Working with an experienced team developing planning level and detailed design plans, specification & estimate (PS&E) projects of various scope and size.
Type of design projects:
- ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems)
- Communication (fiber, wireless, cell modem, etc.) Design
- Traffic Signal Design
- Pavement Marking Design
- Guide and Regulatory Sign Design
- Maintenance of Traffic/Traffic Control Plans
- Quantity Calculations
- Construction Cost Estimates
- Specification Development
Key Experiences:
- Experience in traffic signal timing and signal operations.
- Experience working with Federal, State, and local municipalities.
- Experience with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) systems engineering process.
- Experience with ITS planning and Plans, Specifications & Estimate (PS&E) development.
- A passion for Planning/Traffic engineering and Smart Cities.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within one (1) year.
- Minimum 5 years of traffic engineering experience with a background in traffic signal timing and/or ITS planning and design.
