Construction Inspector (Geotechnical)
An industry-leading client is searching for a Construction Inspector in the Geotechnical field to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Conducting pile inspections and inspections of the deep dynamic compaction process
- Observing compacted files eg. the use of nuclear density gauges
- Measuring distances to ensure accuracy of the dimensions of installations and layouts
- Verifying elevation, alignment and levels of the installation
- Observing work in progress to ensure all specifications are met
- Preparing samples for laboratory testing and performing these tests
- Examining workmanship of completed projects to check for conformity to standards
- Interpretation of blueprints for the Contractor and discuss any deviations from this to ensure compliance
- Recording quantities of materials used and received during specific periods
- Maintaining daily logs of construction, performing inspections and completing daily reports
- Preparing sketches of the installations
- Participation in environmental audits and preparing data summaries, data mapping and preparing environmental reports
- Following blueprints, diagrams and guidelines
- Responsible for the maintenance of equipment
- Assisting environmental engineers in the development of remediation devices
- Classifying soils according to types
- Examining rocks, minerals and fossil remains to determine the processes affecting the earth
- Applying chemistry, biology, math’s and physics knowledge to locate geothermal, petroleum deposits
- Directing the drilling of wells and borings
- Collection of soil and groundwater samples for analyzing chemical composition
- Determining the direction of groundwater flow according to previous research
- Performing environmental soil smapling
- Conducting pile and deep foundation inspections
- Adhering to environmental, construction and OSHA safety policies and procedures to be in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Consulting with senior peers on certain projects
- Identifying the potential for new projects and seeks opportunities to promote the company’s services on an ongoing basis
- Travels 100% of the time which may be out of state
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university OR One to four years experience with HS diploma or GED
- Experience with inspection of compacted files, deep foundations, footings, asphalt, concrete, sitework elements and ground improvements
- 40-HOUR HAZWOPER certification
- ACI/NICET/NJ DCA Special Inspector and Nuclear Densometer certification is a plusValid drivers license and reliable transport
- Proficient in verbal and written English
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as slopes, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Proficient or familiarity with AutoCAD, NitroPro, MS Word, Excel, Adobe
- This position required the candidate to use tools such as a lump hammer, shovel, hand auger, Nuclear Density Gauge
