Overview

An industry-leading company located in San Diego, CA is immediately seeking the expertise of an experienced Geotechnical Project Engineer, PE to join their team.

The Geotechnical Project Engineer will be responsible for a conducting geotechnical investigation and prepare design level reports for a variety of projects including commercial and residential developments, educational facilities, infrastructure improvements, bridges, highways, and commercial sites.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • When applicable, directs and oversees junior or subordinate staff members regarding construction, operations, and/or maintenance tasks and assignments at a project site.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical investigations and prepare design level reports for a variety of projects
  • Work closely with other project engineers and geologists and supervise field staff
  • Enhance the professional reputation of the company in general and specifically the geotechnical department
  • Other related duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

  • At least 5 years’ experience
  • Experience in geotechnical analyses methods including liquefaction analysis, slope stability analysis, ground improvement, wall design, pavement design, material and soils testing
  • Perform field investigation work which will include but not limited to; logging soil and rock borings, construction inspection, preparation of daily construction reports
  • Experience using software such as gINT, LPILE, SLIDE, SNAILZ, SLOPE/W, etc

Education and Experience

  • MS in Civil or Geological Engineering, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering
  • PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, advantageous
  • California PE certification required, GE certification advantageous

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged period of standing/walking on construction job sites
  • Occasional periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor field work
