Design Engineer III
An industry-leading company located in Santa Cruz, CA is immediately seeking the expertise of an experienced Design Engineer III (Civil Engineer) to join their team.
You’ll be a member of our brilliant engineering team, contributing to the design of new cutting-edge products. To be successful in this position, you should have hands-on experience using CAD software, with strong attention to detail and a creative flair. Responsibilities
- Design new engineering products and processes
- Craft models and drawings of products using CAD
- Analyze prototype data and retest if needed
- Research new product ideas and methods
- Improve existing products and processes
- Ensure compliance with the industry’s safety standards
- Maintain accurate records
- Ensure products are user- and environment-friendly
- Write detailed reports
- Find creative design solutions to problems
- Present prototypes and designs to customers and project managers
Minimum skills
- Typically 4+ years of industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Civil and/or Environmental
- Experience with Site Grading, Earthwork Calculations, Road Design, Drainage (Calculations & Reports), Utility Layout & Sizing, Technical Report Writing
- Ability to research and interpret technical documents
- Experience in preparing and advancing plan set packages through all project phases including providing redlines for drafter
- Exercise sound judgment on design decisions and in application of standard methods
- Work with multiple site base files oriented in different coordinate frames and varying units
- Proficient in AutoCAD
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of civil design programs (Civil 3D, LDT, Hydro CAD, Flowmasters, StormCAD, etc)
- Knowledge of Graphics programs (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
- Certifications or other sustainability-oriented accreditation preferred (LEED,PE, etc.)
- Knowledge of GIS principles
