Tax Manager Jobs in Torrance California Full Time

We are seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to join our Torrance team. This role is ideal for a technically proficient, detail-oriented accounting professional with strong leadership capabilities. The Tax Manager will oversee complex tax engagements, mentor staff, and ensure all returns are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical tax reviews and approvals of complex tax returns and governmental examinations.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete preparation and delivery of client tax returns.
  • Participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts, supporting the Audit & Advisory (A&A) Department with larger clients.
  • Act as a technical resource for tax preparers and A&A staff on complex tax matters.
  • Manage governmental tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities when needed.
  • Research and evaluate tax preparation and research software for potential firm adoption.
  • Ensure efficient workflow of tax returns within the preparation system.
  • Participate in business development efforts through networking, referrals, and community involvement.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, including Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-Seniors, and Staff Accountants.
  • Oversee training, coaching, and performance evaluations within the tax department.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years’ experience in public accounting with demonstrated progression in complexity, tax scope, and research.
  • Strong experience with entity tax returns (S Corporations and LLCs).
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience managing tax preparers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Commitment to hybrid work model with at least three days in-office weekly.
