Tax Manager – LA

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Tax Manager to join us for an exciting opportunity that we believe will take your career to new heights. In this role, you will be able to apply expertise working in the music and entertainment industry with knowledge of accounting principles, taxation policies and tax procedures. This position plays a critical role in various aspects of the company including business management support, working with the nuances of international touring, client relations, high-level financial analysis, team training & continued education, and much more!

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a top-level review of federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, flow-through entities, corporations, and trusts; also reviews related income tax workpapers
  • Work closely with clients and account managers to advise on income tax issues and related tax planning
  • Oversee planning and scheduling of engagements and workflow supervision
  • Research complex technical tax issues and provides solutions
  • Lead and train teams of seniors and staff accountants throughout the engagement
  • Ensure quality of work product
  • Communicate progress to upper management and is the liaison between upper management and staff
  • Coach and mentor individual team members and be involved in performance evaluations
  • Management responsibilities also include firm administrative functions and initiatives such as client billings

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree; Master’s degree a plus
  • CPA certificate
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (Music and entertainment is a plus)
  • Proficient in the taxation of partnerships, limited liability companies and other similar flow-through entities and high net-worth individuals
  • Maintains knowledge of international activity and foreign tax implications for US individuals and companies
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Excellent written, oral communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to identify and propose resolutions to complex income tax issues
  • Demonstrated advanced project management skills
  • Ability to utilize firm technology to enhance client service
  • Excellent research & analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player with emphasis on the continued growth and development of team members
